The Great Big Green Week
Saturday 6th June 2026 is the start of ‘The Great Big Green Week', we have also booked the Rectory Garden next door to the Village Hall and we will running an outdoor Swap Shop / Exchange event based around ‘Bikes' and related cycling activities.
This will include a bike repair service between 10am - 3pm to encourage more people to ‘get on their bike’ to reduce carbon emissions by leaving the car in the garage whenever possible.
Our regular 'Bike repairers’, Steve Rock & Phil Noel, will be set up in the Rectory Garden, leaving more space inside the village hall for all our other repair activities. As we will be advertising this event more than we normally do, we may get more bikes repairs than Steve and Phil can cope with so Toby Thurston and Paul Hardiman, who normally repair computers and a variety of other things, happened to be also very competent at repairing bikes too so have volunteered for this new role on that day, so thank you both for this.
In addition, a display stand with information about the new Goring Gap Active Travel Group, will be set up the Rectory Garden which will focus on the wide range of health and environmental benefits of using bicycles over motor vehicles whenever possible.
NB: The refreshments service provided by our regular ladies in the Belleme Room kitchen, this will cease at 12.30pm as usual.
However, we are hoping to provide soft drinks and other refreshments for those who arrive in the Rectory Garden after 12.30pm.
